The name ” Côte d’Argent ” was first mentioned in the 19th century, and initially referred to only part of today’s coastline. It was in 1905 that journalist and poet Maurice Martin referred to the entire coastline of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region as the “Côte d’Argent”, in tribute to the superb silvery reflections of its ocean.
